Why he left Manchester City

Everes, who joined Atletico Madrid for £81m last summer, has spoken out about his move away from the club.

“I really wanted to play in the big games. I wanted to play in the Champions League final, the semi-finals. But I didn’t play in the Champions League final. I only played a few minutes in the semi-finals. That’s when I realised I had to make a change.”

Everes has made 103 appearances for Manchester City since joining from River Plate, scoring 36 goals and providing 17 assists. He has only started 61 of those games, mostly when Erling Haaland was injured or out. He has also played in a few midfield roles.

This season, Julian Everes has joined Atletico Madrid and has scored 20 goals and provided five assists in 39 appearances, playing alongside Griezmann. Can he prove Guardiola wrong with another impressive display?
